Most supermarkets in sub-Saharan Africa have deli style cabinets that sell a range of meal solutions for immediate consumption by consumers. These meal solutions range from traditional stews and curries to local delicacies such as cows lips and tripe. Product presentation at the key meal times (breakfast, lunch and dinner) is critical. Product presentation include; the correct product range for that day part, abundant displays that show that the products have been freshly prepared, clear consumer pricing and most critically sufficient product on shelf on time.

Most supermarket retailers have a complex hierarchy of national, regional and store management that also extends into deli counter managers and supervisors. Current systems are manual and 100% reliant on instore management execution. There is no effective way to measure whether all deli counters in a retail supermarket chain have prepared their product displays to the required standards for each day-part.

Using FlowQC a simple checklist can be set up that requires the daily supervisor to take photographs of the deli counter at specific times of the day (e.g. 08.00am). The deli supervisor will also then be required to answer a few questions about whether the standard operating policy and standards have been adhered to when preparing the daily counters for that day part. By 5 minutes past 8.00am the director in charge of all deli counters for that supermarket chain can get one score of whether all deli counters, from hundreds of retail supermarkets, are ready for trade for that particular day part. The director can then drill down to specific regions and retail stores to determine exactly where the problem is. The director can view actual photographs of all daily counters in the supermarket chain. At the same time regional manages, store managers and deli managers and supervisors are viewing the same information (photographs) in real time.

FlowQC allows for real-time, daily management of geographically dispersed retail supermarkets.
